About Us

We started publishing books in 1985 when Rosana wrote and published Living with Llamas, the story of our experiences with llamas. That same year, Kelly went to the then-Soviet Union on an Earthstewards journey with Danaan Parry. Long a filmmaker, Kelly was very pleased with the affordability and ease of creating videos. Once back from his travels, he produced two programs about that trip (both now out of print), then went out into our pastures and began making llama videos.

In the 1990s, we gave up the llama ranch to have more freedom to pursue our books and videos (now DVDs). It was hard to part with the llamas but we both had a sense of new things coming. And indeed they did—we experimented with city life for a few years in Olympia, Washington, then roamed the west in a bus conversion motorhome before living in the tiny town of Crestone, CO, where we built a home out of earthbags. Now we are often in Mexico.

greenhomebuilding.com, a treasure trove of information and links on a subject very dear to Kelly's heart. There are pictures of the earthbag house we built, along with facts about building it. Kelly and the other alternative building experts associated with this site answer questions from all over the world, and Kelly posts the answers. There's a blog too.

dreamgreenhomes.com offers ecological house plans for sale, from a variety of architects and designers. The plans can be used as is, or customized. It's a pleasure to be contributing in this way to the spread of sustainability, and Kelly has found plans that would make beautiful homes!

sunvee.com shows a solar vehicle that Kelly created and drove around for several years.

which-hobbit.com is about an ebook that Kelly wrote. Part autobiography, part thoughtful essays on all kinds of topics, part art book.
